This training is intended to help the practitioners develop skills for assessing the impact of trauma on functioning and ability to benefit from treatment. Implementing trauma-informed care expresses a human service program's intention to assess and potentially modify its organization, management, and service delivery system to include a basic understanding of how trauma affects the life of an individual seeking services.
Trauma-informed organizations, programs, and services are based on an understanding of the vulnerabilities or triggers of trauma survivors that traditional service delivery approaches may exacerbate, so that services and programs can be more supportive and avoid re-traumatizing survivors.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Many individuals seeking public behavioral health and related services have histories of some form of abuse and other types of trauma-inducing experiences. Put on top of that the current COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences often lead to mental health and co-occurring conditions such as chronic health challenges, substance use, eating disorders, and HIV/AIDS, as well contact with the criminal justice system.
Trauma-informed care and interventions are designed specifically to address the consequences of trauma in order to facilitate healing. Participants will learn how to adapt to the way in which trauma effects the person receiving treatment in order to create a theraputic alliance that is assistive and collaborative for the purpose of ameliorating symptoms and conditions that interfere with functioning.
This webcast is led by Mark Lowis, (President, MML Consulting) and is designed to help participants learn to recognize;
