Trauma Informed Care Program Services (2 CE Hours)
Price:
$125.00
This training is intended to help the practitioner develop skills for assessing the impact of trauma on functioning and ability to benefit from treatment. Implementing trauma-informed care expresses a human service program's intention to assess and potentially modify its organization, management, and service delivery system to include a basic understanding of how trauma affects the life of an individual seeking services.
Trauma-informed organizations, programs, and services are based on an understanding of the vulnerabilities or triggers of trauma survivors that traditional service delivery approaches may exacerbate so that services and programs can be more supportive and avoid re-traumatizing survivors. Most individuals seeking public behavioral health and related services have histories of physical and sexual abuse and other types of trauma-inducing experiences. These experiences often lead to mental health and co-occurring conditions such as chronic health challenges, substance use, eating disorders, and HIV/AIDS, as well as contact with the criminal justice system.
Program Goals and Learning Outcomes
Trauma-informed care and interventions are designed specifically to address the consequences of trauma in order to facilitate healing. Participants will learn how to adapt to the way in which trauma affects the person receiving treatment in order to create a therapeutic alliance that is assistive and collaborative for the purpose of ameliorating symptoms and conditions that interfere with functioning. This program will help participants learn to recognize the;
- The survivor's need to be respected, informed, connected and hopeful regarding their own recovery
- The interrelation between trauma and symptoms of trauma
- The need to work in a collaborative way with survivors, family, and friends of the survivor, and other human services agencies in a manner that will empower survivors and consumers
