Day-1 (Wed. Oct. 20) - Pre-Conference Workshop
 
 
Program Summary

This program will provide the help you need to develop your agency-specific strategy and action plans for becoming an EBO, complete with tools and resources for assessing where you are and what to do next.

Participants will be guided and will collaborate as a team to produce strategic and action plans that will focus on the five major components of EBO development:

  • Knowledge and use of evidence-based policies, programs, and practices
  • Demonstration of effective organizational leadership
  • Understanding of organizational culture and use of organizational assessment
  • Utilization of effective strategic planning, performance measurement, and program evaluation
  • Ongoing efforts to enhance organizational capacity and sustainability

This course is taught by David Myers, PhD., Author, "How To Become An Evidence-Based Organization".

The program will provide fundamental EBO knowledge and address the common problems associated with moving from a training environment to the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based organizational change efforts.

 
Day-2 (Thur. Oct. 21)
 
General Session: Current & Emerging Trends in the Remote & Onsite Blended Workforce: Challenges for Leadership & Practice
 

EB Leadership & Organizational Sustainability. "Gathering & Using Data to Drive Evidence-Based Efforts"

Three part training on research, data, analysis, and being evidence-based by being data driven:

Part 1. Presentation and discussion of research concepts and processes, including research design and data collection/analysis.

Part 2. Case Study of notable agency utilizing data to answer some basic research questions and generate a report. In depth review of a case study featuring previous participants, lessons learned, experiences and development as a practitioner, manager/leader, graduate student, and researcher.


Part 3. Experts discuss data experiences and development as practitioner, academic, and researcher. Subsequent use of study completed at the University of New Haven to evaluate federal drug courts in Connecticut, to illustrate a researcher-practitioner partnership and use of data to evaluate program effectiveness.

Day-3 (Fri. Oct. 22)
 
 
Today’s session is focused on helping participants develop and draft their strategic and implementation action plan spelling out an approach that is designed to ensure success by taking into account their individual circumstances.

Having learned the framework for becoming evidence-based as an organization, (EBO) we will plan for implementation. You will be guided through the development of your agency-specific strategy and action plans for becoming an EBO, tools you will need, and resources for assessing where you are and what to do next.


Participants and their teams will collaborate as teams and be guided to produce strategic and action plans that will focus on the five major components of EBO development. They will use workshop time to develop their agency-specific strategic and action plans. Participants will also be in a position to address the common problems associated with moving from a training environment to the implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based organizational change efforts. Participants will be given the opportunity to develop;


• A plan for infusing financial, budgetary and economic considerations relevant for sustaining programs
• An EBO vision and mission
• Organizational goals and objectives, centered on the 5 key aspects of EBO development
• Strategic and action plans for EBO development
• Action steps to be taken to carry out the strategic plan. These action steps will specify responsible individuals, time-frames, and resources needed
