Program Summary

As a client-centered method for effecting lasting change behavior, Motivational Interviewing (MI) or Motivation Enhanced approaches have applications in various settings including criminal justice, juvenile justice and human services.

Although best taught and assimilated through experiential exercises, this online program aims to teach foundational concepts involved in the method of MI. The program will help staff learn how to influence clients into considering making desired change through intrinsic motivation.

Program Goals and Learning Outcomes

This online webinar is informative for staff with little or no knowledge of the MI approach, as well as those who may already be implementing the model and want a booster or "brush up".

Although mostly a knowledge transfer, the program is fairly comprehensive teaching the principles, strategies and techniques of MI skills and how they apply to various settings. It also overviews the ideology and its role in fostering enduring change in client behavior.
